Frisco residents on edge after aggressive coyote sightings

Frisco police and its Animal Services continue to do round-the-clock patrols in search of an aggressive coyote.

Frisco police and its Animal Services continue to do round-the-clock patrols in search of an aggressive coyote.

Thursday just happened to be a great day to be outside because it wasn't cold or windy like it has been the last couple weeks. But in Frisco, around where the coyote was spotted, it appeared there were fewer people using the park along Eldorado Parkway and Rogers Drive. "There are typically people jogging and walking with dogs or pets. It's empty," said resident Rafal Sydor.

This is one day after news came out of an aggressive coyote. Police released video from police cameras of a coyote stalking a runner. It was finally scared off by police sirens. Police said there were four cases in one month. Some were physically attacked, including a 9-year-old.

David Cavazos, who lives in Savannah, remembers his run-in vividly with coyotes some time back a few miles from Frisco. "As I'm running I see rustling from the sides," said Cavazos.

That night David says he was being tracked by five coyotes. He made himself big and loud and was able to scare them off. "I could hear running through the grass trying to follow my direction. By then I was gone," David said.

On Thursday night Animal Services continued their patrols through neighborhoods along Eldorado Parkway. They weren't the only ones with an eye out for this aggressive coyote. "We both go on walks now because she used to go herself and this little girl is a meal," John Rolle, a resident, said pointing to the small dog he was carrying in his arms.

David stopped running outside and he goes to the gym now. That incident is etched in his mind. "I felt like I was no longer at the top of the food chain. I was at the bottom," said Cavazos.

If you see an aggressive animal should contact the Frisco Police Department at (972) 292-6010 or call 911.
