Fort Worth man linked to bodies found in burning car also discovered dead

Authorities were looking for Mandeep Singh, of Fort Worth, after they found two bodies in a burning car.

COOKE COUNTY, Texas — Updated at 1:40 p.m. Monday after suspect's body found.

A Fort Worth man has been found dead after authorities were looking for him in connection with two bodies discovered in the backseat of a burning car.

Mandeep Singh, 37, was found around 1 p.m. Monday in Muenster, near where authorities found the burning car Sunday.

The Muenster Volunteer Fire Department was called Sunday to extinguish a car fire on County Road 417.

After the fire was put out, authorities found two bodies in the back seat, according to the Cooke County Sheriff's office.

Sheriff's deputies, the fire marshal and the Texas Rangers investigated. They concluded the vehicle was set on fire intentionally.

Officials identified Singh, of Fort Worth, as a suspect in the case. They said he likely fled on foot.

The bodies found in the car have not been identified, and authorities have not released their cause of death.

Officials have not said how Singh died.
