South Panola High School to go virtual for 14-days beginning Monday

Friday, both South Panola and Corinth School Districts had said masks would be required for all students, teachers, staff, and visitors.

BATESVILLE, Miss — UPDATE 8/14/2021 - South Panola announced South Panola High School only would transition to virtual learning for 14-days beginning Monday, August 16, due to the number of positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts.

The district said teachers and staff will report to school and teach from their classrooms, while students will log in to Google Classroom each day.

Due to the number of both positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts, South Panola School District has decided to transition South Panola High School to distance learning for a 14 day period beginning Monday, August 16, 2021. SPSD is committed to the safety and well being of our students and employees. 

Teachers and staff will continue to report to school and provide instruction from their classrooms. Students should be prepared to log in to Google Classroom for live instruction, activities, and assignments throughout each day. A link to live schedules can be found under the Distance Learning During Quarantine tab on the SPSD website.

Parents and students can visit the Distance Learning During Quarantine tab, on the SPSD website homepage, for instructions on moving to the virtual setting. All teachers will be communicating with students through email and Google Classroom. Continue to check those platforms to get updated information from teachers.

Parents of students without internet access should contact South Panola High School at 563-4756. 

Students may pick up lunches at the SPSD Grab and Go meals drive-thru located at the back of the SPHS Cafeteria from 9 - 11 a.m.

8/13/2021 - Officials with the South Panola School District and the Corinth School District in north Mississippi said Friday that they will begin requiring masks indoors starting Monday, August 16.

Corinth said Friday masks will be required in all school buildings and facilities for students, staff, and others. 

South Panola officials said the requirement is for all students, teachers, staff, and visitors in all K-12 settings, including on school buses.

District officials said the change is “due to the high number of positive cases and quarantines from close contact tracing during the first six days of school.”

They said the mask requirement could change depending on how the situation goes.
