WEATHERFORD – A fugitive was fatally shot by officers in Weatherford Tuesday night.
The shooting took place after a multi-jurisdictional Fugitive Apprehension Team attempted to serve a felony warrant at the Super Value Inn in Weatherford.
Police say the 36-year-old suspect was wanted on two felony warrants for aggravated robbery.
During the search for the suspect, officers and investigators were led to the inn located at 111 West Interstate 20. Officers found the suspect in the restroom of one of the ground level rooms, police say.

“The suspect brandished a knife when investigators made contact with him. At that point, an officer ineffectively tased the suspect,” police said.
After being tased, the suspect charged at the officers with a knife which resulted in a confrontation. During the confrontation investigators shot the suspect, police added.
The robbery suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released awaiting next of kin notification.
The Texas Rangers have been notified according to protocol and will begin an independent investigation of the incident.
Four officers from two multi-jurisdictional task force units are on routine administrative leave per department policy.
