Suspect in Round Rock murder cased dies by apparent suicide

Officials said the man was found dead in a parking lot near I-35 and SH 45.

ROUND ROCK, Texas — The Round Rock Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting early Monday morning, July 26. As of Aug. 6, police said it appears the suspect died by apparent suicide.

Officials said a call came in around 6:30 a.m. reporting gunshots near the 16900 block of Interstate 35, not far from State Highway 45.

On the scene, police said they found a deceased male – later identified as 40-year-old Joseph White of Pflugerville – in a parking lot south of Aspen Unversity. At this time, police believe he was shot by the occupant of a pickup truck that fled the area.

Later that evening, police said the suspect, White's brother-in-law, was found dead in White's vehicle with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The suspect's official cause of death is still pending a report from the Travis County Medical Examiner's Office.
