LANCASTER -- The Lancaster shooting over the weekend has been ruled a murder-suicide, police said Monday.

A shooting call came from the 2700 block of Pioneer Lane Sunday at about 4:30 p.m., police say.

A caller in the house said two people were shot. Officers arrived and discovered Markey Miles, 32, and Charlitha Simon, 30, dead at the scene.

The victim, Simon, was shot and killed by Miles, who then killed himself, according to police.

This was not the family’s first incident.

In 2014, a family violence report involving both Simon and Miles at their prior residence was filed with the Lancaster Police Department.

Miles was arrested for that offense and had since bonded out, pending trial.
