Updated at 12:10 p.m. Sunday with additional information from police.

Fort Worth police and a tactical team removed a man from an apartment Sunday evening after he barricaded himself inside, officials said.

Officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. to an apartment complex on the 8600 block of Las Vegas Court after they received reports of a man threatening to blow up oxygen tanks inside his apartment and burn down the building, officials with Fort Worth police and MedStar said.

Kids and families had to be rushed from their apartments before a tactical team breached the unit the man was in. He was taken out and placed inside an ambulance before crews took him to the hospital for minor injuries, police said.

He had started to set the apartment on fire before the team got inside and took him into custody, according to police.
