Dallas police seek car linked to shooting that left two dead

Dallas police are looking for a red Dodge Challenger that may be linked to a triple shooting on Monday afternoon that left a woman and her adult daughter dead and a man critically injured.

DALLAS A woman and her daughter who were shot in the head execution-style Monday afternoon have died, police said. A man who was also shot remains hospitalized.

Investigators said they believe it was a home invasion robbery.

Ammy Soumphonphakdy, 50, and her 18-year-old daughter Debbie Thammavongsa died at Methodist Dallas Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon.

Police could only describe the suspects as one Asian male and one unknown male wearing a mask.

On Tuesday night, investigators released a photograph of a red Dodge Challenger which may be connected to the shootings. They urged anyone with information about what happened to call Crime Stoppers at 214-373-8477. Callers can remain anonymous, and will be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

'That smile... it was just so beautiful. It's just not fair... just not fair,' said Mo, the father of Thammavongsa's boyfriend.

News 8 learned that she was Laotian and lived at the home with her mother and siblings.

Debbie Thammavongsa had recently graduated from Molina High School.

'One of the sweetest girls I know, and kind and loving and smart and bright. It's just not fair,' Mo said.

Police and neighbors said there had never been any problems in the 2500 block of Western Park Drive. But now, crime scene tape surrounds the modest residence where gunfire erupted on Monday afternoon.

Neighbors said they never heard any shots.

'I didn't hear not one gunshot,' Robert Munoz said. 'I'm just a feet away from the house.'

Records indicate that Debbie Thammavongsa was the one who called 911 for help on Monday afternoon. She was able to talk to police before she died.

Sources said the victims are Asian, and so are the suspects. That's unusual in this predominantly Latino neighborhood in Southwest Dallas.

Sources also told News 8 a male victim inside the home was bound and shot in the head. A woman and her daughter were also shot in the head. The names of the victims have not been released.

'It's sad she is in the hospital right now, but it's something that is very hard to believe on what went on yesterday,' Munoz said.

At this point, police haven't ruled anything out as far as a motive.

Neighbors said the victims kept to themselves. The daughter attends Mountain View Community College.

'Real quiet people,' Munoz said. 'Never seen them get out of line, or any party going on, or such things.'

One neighbor reported seeing a suspicious vehicle, but Dallas police are still trying to confirm that, and to figure out why the three victims were shot.
