DALLAS -- A 59-year-old Dallas ISD elementary school teacher has been arrested and charged with receiving child pornography after an undercover officer in Australia made contact with him on a website used for exchanging child porn.

Mark Stutheit, who is listed as a 4th-grade teacher at DISD’s Reinhardt Elementary, admitted to having child pornography on his computer, tablet, and cellphone during an interview with a federal agent.

He had received pornographic images of children as recently as June 17, according to a federal complaint filed June 24.

An investigation began in May, when an undercover officer with the Queensland Police Service began exchanging messages with a profile under the username “OLDMANYG” on a child porn site.

OLDMANYG, later identified as Stutheit, had created photo albums titled “cute butts,” “bikinis,” and “9 y/o school girls.”

The profile information listed for the username said, “Beauty is beauty, inspires feelings that not acted on. Imagination is wonderful.”

OLDMANYG said in a message exchange with the officer that he had nude images of children before his hard drive crashed.

Officials obtained an IP address for OLDMANYG’s profile and tracked it to North Texas. Information obtained from AT&T on May 25 then traced the IP address to a residence in Saginaw belonging to Stutheit.

Police obtained a federal search warrant for Stutheit’s home on June 17 and executed the search six days later.

Stutheit told a Homeland Securities Investigations special agent in Dallas that he “had begun chatting with numerous individuals from the website about the sexual exploitation of minors,” according to the complaint.

He said he downloaded pornographic images emailed to him by other users on the site, and saved them to his laptop and to a Dropbox account.

One photo found on Stutheit’s computer during a forensic evaluation showed a young girl lying naked on a couch. “The focus of image is on the minor’s genitals,” the complaint reads.

Stutheit remains in federal custody following a probable cause and detention hearing Wednesday morning in Fort Worth.

The maximum statutory penalty for receiving child porn a minimum of five years in federal prison, a $250,000 fine, and a lifetime of supervised release, according to the Department of Justice.

Dallas ISD sent a statement acknowledging the charges against Stutheit:

"Today, Dallas ISD learned that a teacher at Reinhardt Elementary School has been charged in a federal child pornography case. The safety of our students is vital, and we will support law enforcement and take the appropriate steps to keep our students safe."
