DALLAS — Approximately 466,000 Airbnb guests arrived in greater Dallas-Fort Worth last year, and local hosts for the hospitality and home-sharing platform raked in millions in supplemental earnings.

In a release, Airbnb said that hosts in the region earned $64 million in 2018.

The number of guests and income stem from an overview of 19 counties in the area, all of which earned more than $100,000 in host income last year.

Airbnb says that there are more than 30,000 Texas residents that list their homes with the platform and, for North Texas, hosts typically earn about $6,800 each year.

The top two North Texas counties in Airbnb's research far outstripped the other 17.

Dallas County led the 19 counties in both total host income and guest arrivals with $37.1 million and about 253,000 arrivals.

Tarrant County took the No. 2 spot with $13.7 million in income and 111,000 arrivals. Dallas County's income was about 63 percent greater than Tarrant County's.

Collin County came in third with income of $5.7 million and 35,000 guests — about 68 percent fewer guest arrivals than Tarrant County. And, aside from Denton County with $2.8 million in income and 24,000 arrivals, the other counties fell off drastically from there in income and arrivals, as could be expected based on population density and attractions among other factors.
