North Texans can celebrate National Pie Day early, thanks to Norma's Cafe.

The iconic restaurant is serving free slices of pie Friday while supplies last, starting at 10:30 a.m.

Customers who want to go heavy on the sweet tooth and light on the wallet can stop in at the three Norma's locations -- in Oak Cliff, North Dallas and Frisco -- to get a free slice of Mile High Pie, which comes in lemon, coconut, chocolate and chocolate peanut-butter varieties.

Norma's Cafe Vice President Bill Ziegler said on News 8 Daybreak that the restaurant is only making 450 pies for the promotion.

Yahoo Travel named Norma's the "Best Pie in Texas" in 2015, according to the diner's website.

National Pie Day is Jan. 23. But, as it says on the Norma's menu, "Life is too short. Eat dessert first."

Friday, you can eat it for free, too. No purchase is necessary for the promotion.
