GLEN ROSE — People in North Texas at Fossil Rim Wildlife Center are trying to save the rhino species, whose breed is threatened.
The rhinos are close to being endangered like the rest of the rhino species. There are only 20,000 white rhinos left in the world. That sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t when more than 1,000 rhinos die due to poaching.
Justin Smith, a senior animal care specialist, said his goal is to educate others and make sure these animals never go extinct. He’s the go-to-guy on anything you need to know about the rhinoceros. He said hopes more people will see the beauty behind their thick skin.
