AT&T customers nationwide experienced difficulty placing 911 emergency calls for about four hours Wednesday evening.
The wireless carrier said the issue was fixed at about 9:35 p.m.

The carrier provided no explanation as to what happened, nor any details about how many customers were impacted and exactly where.
Various cities across the country, including nearly two dozen in North Texas alone, took to social media to alert residents. A full list is posted at the bottom of this article.
An AT&T spokesman sent the following to WFAA during the outage:
"We are aware of a service issue affecting some calls to 911 for wireless customers and we’re working to resolve it as quickly as possible. We apologize for this inconvenience."

The FCC chairman took to Twitter to say they were aware of the issue and investigating further.
