Arlington bus driver arrested for touching student, propositioning him for sex

Chima Nsi was fired on Oct. 1, the same day the alleged offense was reported to authorities.

An Arlington ISD bus driver has been arrested for allegedly inappropriately touching a 17-year-old student and propositioning him for sex while on the bus last month.

Chima Lemail Kalu Nsi and the student were the only people on the bus on Sept. 27 when they began talking about homosexuality, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

That conversation escalated to Nsi pulling over at an abandoned house and aggressively propositioning the student for oral and anal sex. The affidavit describes in graphic detail Nsi's ensuing physical advancements and his conversation with the student about sexual fetishes, all of which was captured on surveillance video inside the bus.

The student told his friend about the exchange with Nsi, and the friend told police, the affidavit states. The student told officers he "was not interested in the suspect but did not mind that it happened."

An Arlington ISD human resources official told police Nsi acknowledged that he knew the student but denied the Sept. 27 exchange.

Nsi was fired after AISD officials viewed the bus video on Oct. 1, and he was arrested Tuesday for an improper relationship with a student.

The district said it Nsi passed a background check when he was hired before this school year.

“When he was hired in early August, there were no issues in his background that would have indicated any concerns,” an AISD spokesperson said in a statement.

Nsi remained in the Arlington jail Wednesday morning. He was being held on $15,000 bond.
