Jennifer Prohov is a digital content producer at WFAA in Dallas, Texas.
1. Who am I? Originally from Chicago, I graduated from the University of Missouri in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Journalism in Emerging Media and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Chinese Studies. I can speak and understand basic Mandarin as well as some Spanish, and am working on adding in Italian as well.
After graduation, I moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, to work as a digital content producer at WBIR. While I loved my time in the Great Smoky Mountains and the land of Dolly Parton, I was ready to come back to a big city. And everything's bigger in Texas, right?
2. What are my interests? I am a big fan of the arts (I was a dancer for ten years) and love seeing new shows, delving into new exhibits or tasting a new dish. I’m also an avid traveler, and believe in the power of exploring your own backyard, as well as the other side of the globe.
I have an (almost) daily yoga practice which I'd recommend to anyone, and I enjoy settling in with a good book that takes me to new places or ideas during my down time -- I currently have five books on my nightstand I'm reading right now.
3. What do I like about WFAA? The people. Everyone here has been so welcoming and genuine, whether it's those in the newsroom or the people on the streets of North Texas. At WFAA, we're constantly working to make sure we serve those people as best we can, and I find that inspiring. How can we make a difference every day? How can we improve the world around us? Those are the questions I'm excited to help answer at WFAA.
4. What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about you? I'm a lifelong sailor! Growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan, we had a huge body of water to use and enjoy at our fingertips. Sailing to me was a quintessential part of my childhood and continues to be a part of my identity today. And with all these lakes around Dallas, I'm excited to try it out here!
