Rain chances are back in North Texas: Here's what to expect

The last time we didn't get rain on a weekend was the weekend of Feb. 3 and 4.

The sun was nice while it lasted! Unfortunately, clouds returned to North Texas on Sunday, and with those clouds does come the chance for a little rain.

Most places were dry in the morning. Sunday afternoon brings a better chance for rain in the form of scattered showers or storms. Highest coverage (40-60%) looks to be from DFW to the east. A few thunderstorms are possible, but overall severe risk is very low. If any thunderstorms form, one or two could have some hail mainly east of DFW into East Texas.

Pretty much everywhere stays in the clouds today, so high temps will depend on if you see any breaks in those clouds. Western areas of North Texas could see some thinning clouds this afternoon, so highs easily into the 70s are likely. Eastern half of North Texas will see thicker clouds and highs in the 60s to low 70s are more likely.

Clouds linger overnight with a spotty shower or patchy drizzle possible once again. Temps won't cool much, and should hold in the 60s overnight. By daybreak tomorrow, a front will be moving into North Texas. Along and ahead of this front, spotty showers or even some t-storms are possible. Best chance for rain first thing tomorrow morning will be from DFW to the east and southeast. Behind the front drier air will be moving in, so after the front passes, rain chances will end. Most places will be done with any sort of rain chances by mid-morning.

As drier air moves into North Texas, clouds will clear with most places seeing sunshine into Monday afternoon. Temps won't be terribly cooler behind the front, so highs in the upper 60s and low 70s are likely for most.

A reinforcing shot of cool air arrives toward the middle part of the week. Not an Arctic Blast or anything like that, but will keep highs in the 60s on Tuesday and upper 50s to low 60s Wednesday. Morning temps Wednesday and Thursday morning should be in the 30s with even a light freeze possible for western and northwestern North Texas.

Next chance for rain looks to be next weekend in the form of spotty showers or storms. Storm track is still uncertain, so exact rain chances will be updated as we head through the week.
