My husband purchased 2 Rose Topiary (knockout bushs) from our local Kroger in early Spring of 2009. He brought it home one night with one small rose dangling from each with several broken branches, both plants were near dead. My husband, knowing I have a green thumb for just about anything, believed I could save it. I carefully watered both plants realizing normally they were at least 35.00 each retail, and my husband paid only 5.00 ea. I was really motivated to save these two plants, so I began watering them on our covered patio using rain water then slowly both plants began sprouting new leaves and then new blooms. After about a month on the patio, I decided to plant them in the ground in full sun first using my root stimulator and fertilizer and a little water every other day. After several weeks both plants began to thrive with full blooms, so I reinforced the base with a strong piece of wood and tied cooking string to it to keep them from blowing over on windy days, and I tell you what...both plants are as beautiful as ever, they both survived Texas 100 degree temperatures the first year and survived the frost as well.I would recommend this plant to anyone who has trouble growing roses because this plant has definately earned its name; It truly is a "Knock Out"
