We have a cat (Skeeter) and a dog (Skylar) who both love the Christmas tree. One for the cozy resting place under the boughs and the other for the "snacks" it provides. Our only hope to stop Skylar from eating the fake berries was to gate off the tree. Skeeter has no problem with that as he can easily jump over the gate and hang out under the tree without fear of being chased by Skylar, who - truth be told - is quite capable of jumping over that fence but won't because Santa Paws is watching! ;)
Skylar has been denied further access to the Christmas tree after eating the fake styrofoam berries. Our backyard is now "decorated".
