Lewisville Preschoolers Host Election

Hello,

Preschoolers at Primrose School of Old Orchard in Lewisville, Texas filled the Primrose Polling Place ready to vote for the 2012 Presidential Class Mascot contenders, Billy the Duck and Percy the Rooster on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Candidates gave it their all, but in the end, Percy was victorious!

The students gathered together to learn about civic responsibility and the voting process from their teachers, and listen to children’s book, Duck for President, Lewisville Mayor Pro Tem Mr. Leroy Vaughn.

Primrose School of Old Orchard, along with Primrose schools across the country, created this election event to help teach young children about the importance of voting and the presidential election, just prior to the presidential election in November. The students enjoyed making propaganda posters for their favorite candidate, listening to a debate between Percy the Rooster and Billy the Duck, voting, and celebrating the winner. With a mixture of emotions, some excited their choice won and some upset, the students learned that even if the outcome of the election isn’t what you wanted; what matters the most is that you voted!
