Rash of Water Meter & Valve Thefts for Copper/Brass

Copper Thief Hits Flower Mound Business

On Sunday evening, a local Flower Mound business was hit by a copper thief. Prototype IT which provides Managed Computer Services had their staff arrive early Monday morning to find that there was no water service in the building. On further investigation by the city, it was determined that a backup valve out of the ground was missing. Prototype IT's cameras caught images and video of the coppier thief! The thief seemed knowledgeable as he took the time to shut off the water, Doug Oppenheimer told local Police. Other business in the area also reported water meter thefts to Flower Mound Police Department as well as in Argyle.

Security Cameras at Prototype IT caught pictures and video of the thief which was supplied to Flower Mound Police. The attached Video shows the thief departing the scene in what appears to be a White Ford Pickup.

Officer Lippens with Flower Mound Police Department who is investigating this rash of thefts felt that with the video & pictures supplied, there was a good base for detectives to work the case.
