I joined the Naval Reserves in 1986. I went to boot camp (BASIC TRAINING) between my junior and senior year in high school. I joined in February and met my future husband in April. The military was going to be my way out of my family situation and I was going active duty after I graduated, but I my husband went active duty and I served as a citizen / sailor for 4 years and then got out to raise a fakily and was a military wife for 8 more years. I would not change it for anything! Now I teach 5th grade in Eagle Mountain Saginaw ISD and teach my kids about respecting our country and we raise and lower flag everyday!
