We've expected a 20% chance of thunderstorms, but we never expected the storms to develop north of the Dallas/Fort Worth area until I heard my weather radio go off for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning in Southern Denton County.
Minutes later as I was taking photos and videos of the frequent lightning around the area. I noticed a few blueish-green flashes north of me. That meant some customers lost power in the thunderstorms. 38,470 in the metroplex, to be specific according to the DFW Police Scanner Facebook page.
These thunderstorms were associated with a cold front that swept through the region over an hour from when this is written. While it is a blessing that many of us are getting some rain during this nuisance drought, many areas like in Wise County didn't get any at all. This will be our last chance of rain at least through another week.
But we'll see some beautiful weather from tomorrow on with highs in the 80s.
