So we were flying to Dallas from New Mexico and we saw all of this smoke up ahead through the windows. We were told we might see something before we took off, but it was pretty intense when we saw the thick clouds of smoke which were well below the clouds up in the sky that we had been passing through.
Of this next part I cannot confirm the location. We were over Lubbock or just past it, I don't know for sure, but the closest city on the plane's computerized map was Lubbock, and our location (moving) was past that city at the point when we saw the smoke.
It was easy to point out from far away. It looked small and I did not see any buildings around, mainly farmland is what it looked like.
We flew right over it, and at one point we could see smoke rising on either side of the plane. It had a point of origin or it was just moving forward quickly.
It looked like a train actually except no railroad and no train, just the smoke. I did not see any fire, but we were way up in the air...still the smoke reached us.
