This squirrel had plastered himself against the base of the tree trying to cool off as the temperature climbed to 107. Taking pity, I dumped a bag of ice around the base of the tree and watched, in awe, at the squirrel returned to the spot and wiggled his hindquarters into the ice. He stayed until the ice melted.
