August 6, 2011 - Driving into Mt. Pleasant this afternoon (2pm CST), we noticed a huge plume of smoke near the Luminant - Monticello Powerplant 5 miles west of Mt. Pleasant, Tx. on FM-127. The fire was actually across the road from the power plant entrance. We got as close as we could, but after a few minutes the sheriff's department began asking everyone to clear the area. The fire was spreading and they wanted all of us to clear out. We managed to get about a minute of video before leaving. Two helicopters were dropping water on the fire. You can see one taking off, just over the tree tops in the last few seconds.
