FRISCO CHURCH RETURNS TO JOPLIN; COLLECTING DONATIONS FOR RELIEF
For immediate release
Marketing Director, Genesis Metro Church
Lead Pastor Tim Bourne
Planning return trips to Joplin, Missouri July 7-9 and July 9-14, the adult and student volunteers from Genesis Metro Church continue to organize and collect donations in the aftermath of the devastation.
Our sources in Joplin say immediate needs are gift cards to local retailers such as Home Depot, Lowe’s, Walmart, and general cash cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) to use in rebuilding efforts. Gift cards can be dropped off or mailed to the church at 9750 John W. Elliott Dr, Frisco, Texas 75034.
The next two trips will focus on reconstruction on homes, churches, and other structures. Men, women and students are attending these trips.
Last month, Genesis Metro served as a drop off location for donation items. Corporations in Frisco and Plano, as well as individuals and families, dropped off clothing, water and supplies, and pet food. In total, over 300 cases of water and 16 pallets of items were donated. The next day, volunteer teams of men from Genesis Metro drove to Grace Baptist Church, a partner church in Joplin, for donation distribution. The team also visited the Joplin Humane Society with donated dog and cat food and supplies.
The need is so great, that both churches agreed to ongoing trips and reconstruction efforts. The July trips are just the beginning.
“This is why at Genesis Metro, we’re all about people. Because God is all about people,” Pastor Tim remarks. “We can’t see a need and not help. This is what the Church is called to do. To respond. To bring hope to the hopeless. To show others that people care, and it’s because of Jesus that we do what we do.”
