LEWISVILLE, Texas – Demonstrating their commitment of giving to others, Primrose School of Old Orchard recently helped feed families suffering from hunger throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. On Wednesday, the preschoolers donated 600 canned food items to Christian Community Action (CCA), a local non-profit organization.
Primrose School of Old Orchard, with the help of their Private Pre-Kindergarten I & II students donated 600 cans one-by-one into the CCA van. The donation of nearly 600 food items comes when American families find themselves in critical need as men, women and children face hunger. According to Feeding America, in recent years approximately 36.2 million Americans lived in food insecure households, 23.8 million adults and 12.4 million children.
Giving back to the community was a major focus of the annual food drive, as well as a key component of Primrose Schools’ Balanced Learning® curriculum, which blends teacher-directed and child-initiated activities with special emphasis on character development. The Caring and Giving program is a nationwide initiative, with participation from 200+ Primrose Schools across the country and helps students understand the value of generosity and creates a hands-on approach to math, nutrition and planning skills.
