Dallas songwriter, Helene Cronin, met a soldier on his way back to Iraq at the airport in Nashville. He asked her where she was going. "Home" was her reply. "Lucky you," he responded. Reflections on everything those two words expressed resulted in Helene's song, "Lucky Me".
This video was posted on YouTube about 3 weeks ago and has already gotten over 35,000 hits.
Helene has been interviewed on Sam Malone's radio program in Houston and on HOOAH!!! Radio Internationally. But the song hasn’t yet been played in Dallas! Lucky Me is a beautiful reminder to reflect on the sacrifices our troops make for their country – a burden that is not shared equally by all of us.
An ex-Marine and another soldier currently serving in Afghanistan also sent photos so that a second video could be made using photos with permission. This is the second version.
Supporting the troops is not a “left” or “right” issue. In fact, the writer of the song and the video editor are on opposite sides of the political fence. But we both wholeheartedly support the troops and wanted them to know it. A portion of any proceeds from the sales of this song will go to organizations which assist our service men and women and their families.
