It was a big day for two little boys Wednesday. Once-conjoined twins Owen and Emmett Ezell left Medical City Children’s Hospital separately.
The 9-month-old boys were born joined at the abdomen, sharing a liver and intestines. Doctors successfully separated them last August. They’ve suffered several setbacks over the last few months, but today, there was nothing but happy tears.
It was emotional, not just for Owen and Emmett’s parents, but for the hospital staff as well.
Neonatal ICU nurse Amber Smith has been with the Ezell's throughout this journey. She told News 8's Shelly Slater why today was bittersweet.
