You’ve probably heard how a Dallas mother’s call for help with her mentally ill son ended tragically over the weekend.
She called 911, but when police arrived, they say he charged at them with a screwdriver. Officers shot and killed 38-year-old Jason Harrison.
That got us thinking. What should you do if someone in your family suffers with mental illness? Who do you call for help? Are police are trained to deal with these sorts of situations?
We spoke with John Dornheim with The National Alliance on Mental Illness for some advice.
