Dallas Zoo officials are still trying to figure out what went wrong Sunday at the Giants of the Savanna exhibit.  Horrified families looked on, as two male lions turned on a lioness and killed her.

The lions had all been born in captivity and raised together with no incident for the last three years.

Zoo officials say  even in the wild, lions in prides rarely, if ever, turn on each other.

News 8’s Jason Wheeler talked with an ecologist who offered a new perspective on this rare attack.
