At times, the mothers became so consumed with worry about their kids that they accidentally caused physical harm. In one very desperate case, the Mother actually jumped off a building with her child. PPD affects about half a million women every year, which is about one in every eight births. There is certainly help available, but the key is recognizing the symptoms.
