After two emergency alerts Monday morning, power grid conditions have stabilized across Texas, but consumers are urged to continue conserving electricity. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas says conditions could be similar Tuesday morning, as this cold snap continues. ERCOT was forced to issue an “Energy Emergency Alert 2” about 7am Monday, warning if power reserves dropped any further, they would have to start rotating outages, or rolling blackouts. All this brought back some not so distant memories of February 2011 when frigid, icy weather hit during Super Bowl week in North Texas. So, did we learn anything from 2011?
