The details of the murder of a Plano toddler continue to unfold.
Two-year-old Grace Ford was found unconscious in her crib with duct tape over her mouth on January 9. Police have charged the fiancé of the girl’s father with capital murder.
According to the arrest affidavit, 25-year-old Melinda Muniz told police an intruder broke into their Plano apartment and sexually assaulted her. Muniz was also found with her mouth duct-taped.
But police say her story was “inconsistent." Detectives say they later uncovered surveillance video showing Muniz at a nearby store with Grace in the shopping cart, buying the duct tape.
Grace was pronounced dead on January 12.
Plano police Officer David Tilley joined Jason Wheeler on News 8 at 4 p.m. with an update on the case.
