Gay marriage isn’t legal in Texas, but what about gay divorce?
The battle to break up is taking a Dallas couple to the Texas Supreme Court.
They got married in Massachusetts in 2006 , where gay marriage is legal. After moving to Texas, they filed for divorce.
But Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott ruled they couldn’t legally divorce, because the state doesn’t recognize the marriage.
Attorney Pete Schulte is representing one of the plaintiffs. He joined News 8’s Jason Wheeler at our Victory Park studios to talk about this precedent setting case.
