Tonya, 14, is a happy eighth grader who loves to eat, sing and swim. Channel 8's Cynthia Izaguirre met up with Tonya at Build a Bear in the NorthPark Center.

"He's a good choice," said the Build a Bear employee after Tonya picked out a bear with eyeglasses. "I like him."

Even though Tonya has a very grown up demeanor, the 14-year-old was very excited about the trip to Build a Bear.

Tonya took great care in dressing up her new bear, no matter how hard it was to decide what to wear.

"I do not like putting shoes on little bears," she said.

She sure likes naming them, though. It was easy to pick a name for her new friend.

"It's Chloe," she said. "That's my bear's name."

At school, Tonya is a good student. Currently, she is working to develop her reading skills. Math and science come a lot easier to her.

"Science because we get to do really cool projects, like we get to build rollercoasters," she said. "That's one of our projects."

Tonya also plays close attention to Texas History. She shared plenty of facts about Lady Bird Johnson.

"She was one of the president's wife's and she loved Texas and she loved the bluebonnets," she said.

In her free time, Tonya enjoys watching TV, eating shrimp -  of all things - and singing.

If she could meet any singer in the world it would be Justin Bieber. She already knows what her reaction would be.

Tonya loves music because the lyrics often tell a story.

"Just the music and how it speaks to me," she said.

Tonya is very sweet and looking forward to finding her forever family. She needs a home that can provide a lot of structure, attention and affection.

"Just that they love me," she said. "I would freak out!"
