DALLAS - Tuesday, the Dallas Opera announced French-born Emmanuel Villaume as its new music director.
Villaume becomes only the third to hold that position in the 56-year history of the company. He has appeared in the world's most prestigious opera houses and said he understands the need to balance artistic risk with fiscal responsibility as he helps moves the Dallas Opera forward.
Villaume will conduct two operas next season. The first will be "Carmen" in October.
He also plans to make a home here and become involved in community outreach on behalf of the opera.
News 8 talked to him about his vision and to General Director Keith Cerny about his choice. Watch the full interviews by clicking the video at the top of the report.
