PROSPER -- The North Texas town of Prosper is continuing to live up to its name.

Town Manager Harlan Jefferson pointed out the city's building permits for single-family homes has been on the rise for several years.

Prosper set a town record in 2012 with 461 permits, and this year officials says they are on pace to reach 500.

“I would say that Prosper has really benefited from our location," said Robert Winningham with Prosper’s Economic Development Corporation. "We sit on a major east-west route, Highway 380, we’re at the end of the North Dallas Tollway, and Preston Road, a major north-south route."

Blue Star Land, Jerry Jones’ development company, is planning a 300,000-square-foot shopping center, called The Gates of Prosper, at the northeast corner of Preston Road and Highway 380.
