News 8's Mike Castellucci stumbled across this Facebook page Thursday and was introduced to Tyler, a monkey whose owners live in Terrell.

After having the pet for 20 years, the family says the city is making them give up Tyler because he's an exotic animal.

News 8 spoke to the Terrell police chief and head of animal control late Thursday afternoon.

Chief Jody Lay said it's a matter of safety, but he'd be happy to grandfather Tyler into the ordinance if his owners could prove they lived within the city limits before the ordinance was passed.
