'It just sends the wrong message': Mother who lost son to drunk driver reacts to Brent sentence

A  jury has sentenced former Dallas Cowboy Josh Brent to 10 years probation and a $10,000 fine for the drunk driving crash that killed his friend and teammate Jerry Brown.

After reading the verdict, Judge Robert Burns III lectured Brent for his “path of irresponsibility. The judge also gave Brent a 180-day jail sentence, which is the maximum he could have added.

Brent went directly to jail and will have to serve the full term.

Patty Carter knows what it’s like to lose a loved one to a drunk driver. She lost her son, his girlfriend, and their unborn child.
