FAIR PARK - North Texans have a new destination for unlimited family fun and adventure this summer! The State Fair of Texas just opened its brand new 'Summer Adventures' in Fair Park. The Midway is coming to life through August 18th with rides, attractions, and shows for the whole family.
News 8 got a sneak peak inside 'Summer Adventures' on Monday's Daybreak. Fan favorites such as the Texas Star and the Texas Skyway will be open all summer, along with many others. However, the focal point of the new park will be the newly completed Top O' Texas Tower. This new addition is twice the height of the Texas Star and provides breathtaking views of downtown Dallas!
Not only can park goers enjoy rides and attractions, but there are some wacky and fun shows to check out while at 'Summer Adventures'. News 8 went behind-the-scenes of the new 'Island of Dogs and Cats' extravaganza. You got to see it to believe it!
Dogs and cats (yes --- cats!) amaze the audience with wacky stunts and crowd-pleasing shenanigans. In tail-wagging waves of four or five, dogs will run into the arena ready to perform back flips, hand stands, rope jumping, and globe-ball walking. Ten domestic cats will perform a variety of feline feats including climbing poles, jumping platforms, and soaring through hoops.
The Island of Dogs and Cats also serves as a place to educate visitors about how and where to adopt pets in need of rescue. Visitors can also get more information on care, nutrition, and information about certain dogs and cats.
Along with rides, attractions, and shows, visitors can chow down on the beloved Fletcher's Corny Dog available at 'Summer Adventures.'
'Summer Adventures' in Fair Park run daily through August 18, 2013. For a list of attractions, rides, and shows as well as ticket information visit http://www.fairparkfun.com/.
