PLANO -  North Texans have the chance to help a Plano physical education coach in the fight of her life.

Lori Campbell, who works at Wyatt Elementary School, is undergoing treatment for liver and lung cancer. On Tuesday, Wyatt Elementary School staff, students, parents and supporters are holding a special fundraiser in Campbell’s honor. All you have to do is strap on some roller skates.

Friends of Campbell say the event is not only to raise money, but also give the community a chance to rally support. They will “roll” Tuesday evening at the Thunderbird Roller Rink.

On Tuesday morning, News 8 got some of her friends and colleagues up and active early in the morning. They said the goal is to show Coach Campbell how much she is loved in the community.

“Lori is devoted to her community" said Tammy McCrary, a colleague of Campbell’s at Wyatt Elementary. "She has a love for kids, and it saddens us that we are here. But, she is such a fighter, and has such a positive attitude about this and that we know the community is going to rally around her however we can."

The fundraiser is tonight from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Thunderbird Roller Rink in Plano. Admission is $8, with $5 going to help pay for Campbell's medical expenses.
