GRAPEVINE - A favorite childhood pastime will soon become a dream job for one lucky North Texan!
The question is - Do you have what it takes to be the next LEGOLAND Master Model Builder? This weekend, managers at the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine are putting LEGO builders' skills to the test. They're looking for one person to become their next Master Model Builder in their Brick Factor Competition!
Only three other people in the United States carry the official title of Master Model Builder at a LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Our very own Colleen Coyle found out why on Wednesday's News 8 Daybreak as she tested her "rusty" LEGO skills against an expert builder. As she quickly found out, it takes time, creativity, and a lot of practice!
LEGO Model Builder Evan Cooper has been practicing since he was a kid.
"I know when I was a child, and I started building with LEGO sets, I would have never thought that you could be in a position such as this and 15...20 years later, here I am. For a lot of enthusiasts out there, this is the kind of opportunity that they are looking for, and it's knocking on their doorstep," Cooper said.
This unique audition aims to find skilled individuals that are able to develop new features, exhibitions, and new models. The new Master Model Builder will also be responsible for building new models and interacting with the thousands of children that visit LEGOLAND.
Faced with millions of LEGO bricks, the Brick Factor Competition will be made up of a series of creative LEGO build challenges. A panel of judges will evaluate each candidates performance and determine whether the candidate moves on to the next stage of competition.
Candidates interested in auditioning must register in advance by filling out an online application on the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Website. If you just want to watch the experts build, you can stop by the Grapevine Mills Food Court starting at noon both Saturday and Sunday.
