GRAPEVINE -  The holiday season is underway in Grapevine, also known as the Christmas Capital of Texas. So, if you’re looking for ideas for an original Christmas gift, one activity that’s open to all ages is helping make your own Christmas ornament.

On Monday, News 8 went inside the Vetro Glassblowing studio for an up-close look at how it's done. It costs 30 dollars, but with the help of Vetro owner David Gappa, you can make a one-of-a-kind ornament.

Over the years, Gappa said creating ornaments has been popular for families, couples, and everyone else looking to get into the spirit.

"Glassblowing itself has been around for centuries and so very few people really know about the art of what we do,” Gappa explained. “It's extremely captivating. Folks are just drawn to the energy of this molten liquid, and they really just want to be a part of and see what this world entails.”

David Gappa himself hand blew a couple of coffee cups for News 8, which you will find in the photo gallery with this story. It took him about a week to get everything just right, including the logo.
