DALLAS - “We grow people.”
That's the vision for one southern Dallas church, but within the last year-and-a-half, they've also grown in size to fit thousands more church-goers.
On Monday, WFAA’s Wyatt Goolsby got a look inside Concord Church’s new state-of-the-art worship facility.
Members of Concord Church call their new facility their "Faith Building." News 8 took a tour of their sanctuary, media center, and the Baptismal Room. This past weekend, church members held dedication services. Supporters have donated for years to reach their $24 million goal, which also helps two sister churches, one in Haiti and one in South Africa.
"I think sometimes people want to be a part of something bigger than what they are,” said Senior Pastor Bryan L. Carter. “I think the fact that our church is so community-centered, so community-driven, it encourages people to contribute to the church because they know it’s coming right back. We are trying to makes changes. We are trying to encourage them -- trying to uplift the community. It's so very very important.”
Pastor Carter told News 8 all the weekend services brought in 11,000 people. The sanctuary inside the new facility seats 3,000.
