DeSoto, Lancaster and Cedar Hill: The "Belt Line Trio" is doing great things in the high school football playoffs.
DeSoto rallied from an early deficit to beat Southlake Carroll last week, and they dug another tough early hole for themselves Saturday night against Allen in a game played at Ford Stadium on the SMU campus.
It was all Allen early, scoring 21 unanswered points out of the gate.
But the Eagles had an answer, and it was 21-14 Allen at the half.
In the end, Allen won 51-36. They'll face Houston Lamar in the title game next week.
In the 5-A Division 2 semifinal, Cedar Hill took on Austin Westlake. The Longhorns were ahead 28-14 with 9 minutes left in the game, but Westlake wouldn't go away.
The game was tied at 28 with just over 2 minutes to play.
Cedar Hill kicker Brooks Ralph kicked the winning field goal with just 3 seconds left. The Horns are headed back to State with a 31-28 win. Cedar Hill will face Katy for the Division 2 title. The Tigers upped their record to 15-0 by beating Cibolo Steele 45-33.
Lancaster won on Friday night; they'll play for a state title next week, too.
