Fort Worth police spokeswoman Cpl. Tracey Knight, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital,  issued a brief statement Tuesday evening on the officer who was shot at a Haltom City garage.

"A Fort Worth police officer has been shot. He is in serious condition. He is being treated here by the best doctors in the city, and so we ask for all of our citizens to keep our officer in their thoughts and prayers."

"Any time an officer's shot, it's very serious. He's been shot in the line of duty; he's been an officer for 21 years; and any shooting is a serious injury."
