OXNARD, California — It's football season, and the Dallas Cowboys are back at training camp.
They arrived in Oxnard, California on Saturday along with Dale Hansen and our News 8 sports team.
Owner Jerry Jones gave the "state of the team" address on Sunday afternoon. "I want to close the window on closing the window," he told reporters, "That was off-season talk."
Head coach Jason Garrett said, "Teams that win are typically mentally toughest, so many games come down to crunch time."
Garrett added: "This is a 'get-it-done' business; there are a lot of excuses, but we can't live in that world."
Jones said he didn't know why, but he hasn't talked with running back Dez Bryant since the recent incident in which his mother called police about an alleged assault by her son. Following the news conference, Jones told reporters that Bryant has been out of shape for the last two years.
"We're aware of the fine line between enabling and supporting, and we'll try to walk that line," Garrett said.
