FORT WORTH - Soaring, diving, and looping through the sky - it's a normal day at the office for a Canadian Snowbird!
On Thursday, WFAA's Colleen Coyle got a chance of a lifetime - to go fly with the Snowbirds! A Canadian Icon, this flight demonstration team is comprised of serving members of the Canadian forces. They work together to bring thrilling performances to the North American public.
After getting fitted for a flight suit and going over safety checks, it was time to take to the skies of North Texas. It was a thrilling 40 minutes - 2,000 feet above the ground, topping speeds near 300 mph, and feeling some 3G force!
"This is a day I will never forget! It was a ride of a lifetime - nothing I had ever experienced before. But I was in good hands. My pilot Denis Bandet talked me through the whole flight, kept me in the loop, and explained to me how they practice formations. The jets were only feet away from us in some of the formations - it was amazing!" Coyle said.
Colleen made it back in one piece, but her lunch is another story!
You can see the Canadian Snowbirds in action this weekend. They will perform Saturday and Sunday at the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. Admission is FREE.
