Where in the world is it colder than the American Midwest?

Resolute Bay, Canada got down to 33 below zero on Monday, with a wind chill of 51 below.

A couple of towns in Russia near the Arctic Circle registered 39 below and 37 below.

The coldest temperature ever recorded on Earth is 129 degrees below zero in Antarctica in 1982. But an unofficial satellite reading from Antarctica in 2010 showed a temperature of 135.8 below zero.

By the way, the warmest place to be on Monday was in Montevideo, Uruguay, where the official high hit 95 degrees.
